Why VIVANT

A gallery in Sion, created to keep art moving between artists, audiences, collectors and the city. This is why we created VIVANT.

It all starts with a simple belief: art truly comes to life when it meets an audience. In a studio, on a screen or in storage, it waits. When someone stands before it, something happens. That is where the name VIVANT comes from.

Valais is home to artists, collectors, architects, designers and art lovers. What is sometimes missing is a place where these different worlds can meet. An open, contemporary space where you don’t need to know the codes to walk through the door and where artists have a meaningful setting in which to present their work.

VIVANT Art Space was born from that idea. A contemporary art gallery at Cour de Gare, in the heart of Sion, welcoming emerging and established artists from near and far, across disciplines including painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, design, installation and many other forms of artistic expression.

But for us, a gallery extends beyond its walls. Around the space, we are building an entire ecosystem: MAG, to tell the stories of artists, their work and the ideas behind it; TALKS, to give a voice to those who create, think, collect and bring art to life; and SURFACES, to discover distinctive materials, finishes and creations at the intersection of art, design and architecture, selected for their character, innovation and ability to transform a space into something truly unique.

A very personal vision

I have always loved building things. Taking an idea, giving it structure and seeing it become real. I have a very analytical mind: I like to understand, organise, anticipate and think things through down to the smallest detail. But alongside that, I have always been deeply drawn to what is beautiful, different and unexpected. The detail that catches your eye. The artwork that makes you stop. The material you instinctively want to touch. Something you simply don’t see everywhere.

Whenever I imagine a space or a project, I find myself searching for that piece, that material or that creation that will make it unique. And I have often asked myself a very simple question: when I’m looking for something truly different, where do I go?

I want VIVANT to become one of the answers to that question.

A place where you can discover an artist you had never encountered before, a work that moves you, but also a distinctive surface, material, creation or craft that can transform a space. Something you won’t simply find by opening a catalogue.

And there is something else that matters deeply to me: seeing others succeed. I love discovering talent, understanding what makes a person or a project unique, creating connections and, in my own way, helping give them the space to grow and be discovered.

VIVANT was born from all these different sides coming together: structure and creativity, attention to detail and emotion, beauty and human connection.

I didn’t want to simply create a gallery where artworks hang on walls. I wanted to create a living place. Somewhere you discover the artist as much as the work, where people meet and exchange, and where a single encounter can spark an idea, a collaboration, a desire, or simply an emotion.

A place where you can walk in, look, feel, discover… and perhaps leave with something you didn’t have when you arrived.

That, to me, is VIVANT.

Rooted in Valais. Open to the world.

This is where the VIVANT story begins. Our doors open soon.
